Advent Gives: Wide-Ruled Spiral Single-Subject Notebooks

During Advent we are invited to give to others through St. Paul’s Advent Gives. This year on Sunday, December 3, during the Munch and Serve, there will be opportunities to make Blessing Bags, to paint pillowcases for Ukraine, and to make baked goods.

One of the items needed for the Blessing Bags is a 70 sheet Wide-Ruled Spiral Single-Subject notebook. We will need a total of 300 notebooks, which may be found at the Dollar Tree. I encourage you and your child/children to make a trip to Dollar Tree or visit the Dollar Tree website to make the purchase.

As we prepare for Christmas, we invite our children to experience the joy in giving. For young ones it may not bring great joy, but you will plant seeds that will grow in the years to come.

Notebooks may be dropped off with Sunday school teachers or dropped off in the collection box outside Mrs. Donna’s Office.

First Steps – November 6, 2017

Are you familiar with Breath Prayers?  This type of prayer seeks to keep the person focused on the presence of God. Take a moment to give your undivided attention to God.  Then follow these steps:

  1. Close your eyes and remind yourself that God loves you.  Recall a favorite passage like 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast your cares on him, he cares for you.”
  2. Keeping your eyes closed, imagine God calling your name and asking you what it is you desire most.
  3. Answer God. It could be a single word or a sentence.  “Lord, I want…”  There are no wrong answers because the answer rises out of your concerns.
  4. Now, focus on an image of God:  Teacher, Lord, King, Healer, Creator, Shepherd, etc.
  5. You now have your Breath Prayer.  For Instance:
– Good Shepherd, I want peace in my family (or)
– Eternal King, Help me to love and forgive my friend (or)
– Healer, Bring comfort to my hurting friend…

Throughout this day and the week to come, constantly pray your prayer.

This week’s reading:

Monday – Acts 2
Tuesday – Acts 3
Wednesday – Acts 4
Thursday – Acts 5
Friday – Acts 6, 7

Prayer Requests:
For all those who have influenced your life – Give thanks.
For the St. Paul Community and the loss of many loved ones.

God Bless,
